Hey guys! We are back! After Jaipur ( a recent post by kirin: if you havent read it, go and read it), we went to Bharatpur , which we definitely wouldn't have gone to if we hadn't found out that there, in Bharatpur, was Keoladeo National Park, a home to 400 species of birds!!!!!!!!

I was SUPER EXCITED that we were going there, but kirin on the other hand thought all that was a lie and he told me we weren't going to see any birds. But, when we went there we Definitely proved him wrong! The world heritage site has existed since the mid 18th century, when Maharaja Suraj Mal of Bharatpur, constructed a dam which resulted in heavy flooding, turning the area into a marsh. Migratory birds began to flock there, and in the 20th century it was turned into a shooting range, and in 1981 it was declared a national park.

So Keoladeo is basically a long road where we took the bicycle rickshaw and stopped along the way to admire the beautiful birds. We got a guide that had a telescope so we could see the birds better.

After 5 minutes in the rickshaw we probably saw like 10 species of birds!!

it was a little foggy, and the pictures were taken through the telescope, so they are not the best, but the birds were beautiful.

When you looked through the trees you would just see hundreds of birds sitting on the water.

Above is the painted stork. We thought it stood out. We saw it feeding its babies!

This is the BEST part.

We saw THREE OWLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keoladeo was probably the highlight of my trip so far!

I'm glad you got to see some owls! It must have been quite an experience to see so many birds at one time. Was it loud from bird sounds where you were?
