We have been in the Outback the last few days and haven't been able to post because we haven't had good cell service or internet access . The towns here are not really towns- they are "resorts" with an ATM machine, small supermarket, overpriced restaurants and a single crowded gas station. It's been great to be offline and we don't mind standing in line for gas but driving on Red Centre Way for half a day was stressfull even with a 4WD. Here's what it looks like.

I have never been so thankful to see the paved road.

Food has been another challenge but we discovered toast! We have been eating toast with butter, toast with jam, toast with vegemite, toast with coffee and toast with tea. Yesterday, at breakfast, we paid tribute to Mark Rothko by trying to make Rothko toasts.

It has all been worth it- for the 10KM Uluru base walk; the walk around Kings' Canyon Rim and the hike up to see the view of Orniston Gorge. Just a glimpse- here (the pictures don't do it justice). Kirin will post more details of the walks!

Those sandwiches don’t look too good. My mom said there was once a song about vegemite sandwiches?? I wouldn’t want to learn to drive there! Where are the lane lines?
