Staying fit in Adelaide until...

This post is late because when we left Adelaide, we had very poor internet access for a few days. We got to Adelaide after Kangaroo Island and had a few days to relax. Supriya got back into doing some beachbody workouts and I was able to go on my first good run of the trip (Sydney and Melbourne were cold and dark in the mornings; no place to run in the outback and I was scared to run around animals in Kangaroo Island).

Adelaide is a perfect place for this because the downtown is surrounded by parks that all connect. You can even go on trails from these parks into the suburbs and wine country and over to the ocean. Adelaide also give out free bikes and helmets for the day!

So we spent one day riding bikes. We decided to not use a map and not have an agenda except to get back before 4:30 when we had to return the bikes. Plus my phone died, so we had no map anyway. We biked about 25 km and stumbled across some of the key sights of Adelaide- Rundle mall where we had lunch and gelato; the royal botanic gardens, a river, some great architecture and a really cool new hospital- the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Then we got lost. Then we got lost again, realizing we were on a trail going to the ocean and finally figure our way back- tired but just in time. Only a few pictures (because my phone died). Here is the map:

At the end of the day, we had a relaxing dinner and met up with Supriya and Rita's co-resident, Morgyn and her family, who live in Adelaide. They picked this great place in Windy Point, with a view of the city and food that made up for all that exercise.

It probably didn't help that we started the following day with a tour of Haigh's chocolate factory.

And then ate Amazing Afghani food where we had Dal, rice, dumplings, spiced chai and eggplant.

Maybe in the next city, we will try to exercise and eat well!

Great Day in Adelaide! Impressed by the run followed by the 25km bike ride. Especially the kids..so impressive. Love the food stops in-between! No better way to see the world...😉
