Dad: I thought this would be the perfect post for Simi and I to do together because it involved one of my favorite things in the world (coffee) and one of Simi's favorite things in the world (animals)- but then Simi did some research! It started with me getting a cup of coffee surrounded by a bunch of cute animals.

Simi: Luwaks! or Asian palm civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus). These animals are used to make Kopi Luwak (coffee). They are sometimes put in cages or forcefed coffee cherries that they poop out and coffee is made from their poop. But 80% of Kopi Luwak is fake.

Here are pictures of Luwaks that we saw in the coffee shop.

Dad drank Kopi Luwak.

Dad: I didn't think I was doing anything wrong. The animals looked like they were taken care of. The coffee was unbelievable (no- it tasted like instant). I put in a lot of the liquid sugar to make it taste good. It was probably fake.

Simi: The luwak saw dad drinking the coffee and jumped over to him to lick the rest of the cup of sugar. Dad jumped back and he said it scratched him.

Dad: I was surprised when it jumped on me and I didn't use any more of the syrup. And then I was ready to leave.

Simi: Please don't drink Kopi Luwak because so many animals are being abused just for a cup of coffee.

Dad: I wish we had done research before I drank this. I will listen to Simi!

The other coffees in the coffee ☕️ plantation are quite good. I actually had a strong Luwak which was not so bad...but, sad 😢 to see them in the cages. Very artistic post - I like the third person reference...Simi is like Alex Trebek! 😂 So much good trivia...well done!
